John Towner Williams, born on February 8, 1932 in Long Island, New York, is a pianist, conductor, composer, and film composer. He is a resident artist at the Tanglewood Music Festival of the Boston Symphony Orchestra and has been involved in film music work since the 1950s. His first independently completed work was "Love Saint". In 1971, he won his first Oscar for "Fiddler on the Roof". In 1975, composed the music for the disaster horror film "Jaws". At the end of 1979, he took over the conducting position of the Boston Pop Orchestra in the United States. In 1993, composed the music for the movie "Schindler's List". In 2000, he entered the Hollywood Bowl Hall of Fame and was awarded the Kennedy Center Honor Award in 2004. In 2009, US President Obama awarded John the National Medal of Arts at the White House. In 2012, composed music for "The Legend of Lincoln".
