How does your experience relate to Toastmasters and the region advisor role:

In my current term as region advisor, I have been trained and supported by WHQ staff and my peers in areas of conducting training programs, conflict management, problem solving, communication and leadership skills, and mentoring. Through my 15+ years of work experience, I have developed the ability to forecast potential issues, use critical thinking to assess situations, and strategize based on the resources available. Having lived in USA for a decade and moving back to my home country India, I have embraced the best of western work ethics and the cultural diversity of the east. Working in teams with diverse age groups, nationalities, and cultural backgrounds has given me a wealth of knowledge and different perspectives.

What is your experience with coaching individuals and/or teams? What key strengths do you bring to the district leaders?

As region advisor, I helped all the districts of Region 13 to prepare success plans by empowering them with clarity of thought towards the district mission and embedding measurable action items to keep them on track. By connecting and listening to each district leader, I have been able to help them realize their role and how to collaboratively drive teams towards success.

Why are you interested in serving as region advisor?

It has been an honor for me to serve as region advisor for 2018-2019. Post realignment of regions, this is the first year for some districts in the new Region 13. Having understood the nuances of each district through interaction with their respective leaders, I believe there is a lot more I can contribute to the success of these districts, as I have gained deeper insights in terms of people, culture, and leadership potential of these districts. I am a true testimony of how Toastmasters can positively transform a person. I have gained not only confidence, but also success and recognition in both my professional and personal life, for which I will always be grateful to this organization.
